Applications of Ultra-Thin Lenses
With the advancement of modern architectural lighting, commercial lighting, and smart lighting fixtures, lighting fixture design has gradually shifted toward lighter, thinner, and more highly integrated solutions. In certain applications with strict requirements for ceiling height and installation depth, traditional lenses often fail to meet the demands of compact fixture design due to size and structural limitations.
For example, in applications such as recessed downlights, linear lights, exhibition hall lighting, commercial spaces, and office lighting, luminaires are becoming increasingly compact, yet the optical systems must still deliver precise light distribution, high efficiency, and a superior visual experience. This places higher demands on lenses—they must not only achieve excellent optical performance but also feature thinner, more flexible structural designs.
With their low profile and high performance, ultra-thin lenses open up new possibilities for lighting fixture design, enabling designers to achieve higher-quality lighting effects within limited spaces.
Filmy Series
In response to the trend toward lighter and thinner lighting fixtures, Herculux has introduced an ultra-thin optical solution—the Filmy Series lenses.
With a design as thin as a cicada’s wing, these lenses significantly reduce installation space requirements while maintaining high-performance light distribution. The newly launched D110 lens, for example, has a diameter of 110 mm and an overall height of just 19 mm. Its ultra-thin structure breaks through the limitations of traditional optical design, providing a more compact optical solution for large-sized luminaires.
Minimum and Maximum Dimensions（30mm 110mm）
Currently, the Filmy Series is available in sizes ranging from 30 mm to 110 mm to meet the structural requirements of various lighting fixtures; with beam angles of 10°, 15°, 24°, 36°, and 60°, it provides precise solutions for everything from spot lighting to wide-area, uniform illumination.
High-Quality Optical Performance
Filmy Series utilizes Herculux's patented technology—Triple Total Reflection Technology—to achieve more precise and efficient optical output through multiple stages of light control.
This technology not only ensures the lens’s light distribution performance but also supports matching with light sources of various color temperatures, allowing a single lens model to accommodate different color temperature requirements and providing greater flexibility for luminaire design.
Compatible with the Zhaga standard, it integrates seamlessly into the Kirin optical platform
Filmy Series meets Zhaga standards and is a 1:1 replacement for all product series under the Kirin optical platform.
Whether it’s product upgrades or platform-based lighting design, the Filmy Series helps customers reduce development costs, improve product iteration efficiency, and enable more convenient optical applications.
