How should one deal with rear light emission in outdoor lighting?
In outdoor lighting applications, ensuring that light is precisely directed to the target area while minimizing interference from stray light has always been a key challenge in lighting design.
Although traditional polarized light distribution schemes can provide long-range illumination and directional lighting, they tend to generate backlight and stray light as the light travels. This not only reduces lighting efficiency but may also cause light pollution and adversely affect the surrounding environment.
To address this issue, the matrix baffle was developed. Through precise optical control design, it concentrates light more effectively, resulting in higher-quality outdoor lighting.
What is backlight?
Rearward light refers to the portion of light emitted by a luminaire during outdoor lighting that deviates from the intended illumination area and is directed toward the rear of the luminaire or into non-illuminated areas.
In applications such as road lighting, landscape lighting, and architectural floodlighting, rearward light not only cannot be effectively utilized but may also cause the following problems.
Reduces the overall luminous efficacy of the luminaire, resulting in energy waste;
Generates unnecessary stray light, affecting the surrounding environment;
Causes light pollution, affecting visual comfort at night;
Interferes with the overall lighting effects of buildings, roads, and landscapes
Therefore, finding a way to suppress backlight and precisely control the light energy within the effective illumination area has become a key requirement for high-quality outdoor lighting.
